What Is Eczema?
You
may be surprised that even when the word eczema is such a widely used term and
yet there are still a large group of the world population who do not know
exactly what is eczema. However, the case here is that it is one of the medical
terms for a type of skin condition and so most people out there are not very
interested in what eczema is.
Eczema
is a term used for skin condition and it appears as a form of dermatitis.
Unlike specific medical terms like cough or fever, the term eczema covers a
wider range of condition like skin dryness, flaky skin or red and persistent
rashes on the body. Here are some of the symptoms that can help you identify
what is eczema:
1)
Flaky
and Dry Skin
If
you are a sun lover who enjoys going to the beach for sun tanning session on
your weekends, then you would probably be familiar with a term called sun
burnt. Sun burnt will end up you with dead skin peeling freely like no tomorrow
and they usually look like dandruffs on black shirts. This is exactly how an
eczema patient with flaky and dry skin look like in his or her daily lives. The
flaking and dry skin is often accompanied by random red patches over the body.
2)
Random
Red Patches
You
know you did not get into any fight and neither have you been burnt by anything,
but you are still getting unwanted red patches all over your body. These random
red patches are normally caused by uncontrollable scratching which you do not
even realise most of the time. It is especially common when you are in a heated
or dusty environment. Eczema patients are very vulnerable to these
environmental conditions.
3)
Infections
Normally Founds On “Baby Skin” Areas
There
are couple of areas on our bodies are very tender and weak in some sense and
they are known as the baby skin area. The skin on these areas are normally
weaker, therefore eczema normally finds its way to these areas. These areas are
namely the forehead, joints, eyes and lips. You do not have to panic if you
find red patches surfacing on these areas because they are very common eczema
conditions. Seek professional advice and be assured that the problem do not get
worse.
It
is not an easy task to explain what is eczema in simple words because it takes
someone who really went through the suffering to tell you exactly what eczema is.
However, having the ability to identify the problem will greatly help you in
this course.
